Thief

I saw you leave
Jupiter breaking through the ugly grey

Above you and the stars too faint to find
Something compels the crow to call

With such cacophony in error as if he knows us
Something from his memory

I wait up ignoring the mirror and then looking
Gravely into myself for myself

Knowing I am gone Go find me Give me back
You took it you took me and didn’t care

Where you went or how long you stayed
I hear my essence cawing A bird

Sees her own dead and places objects in mourning
A twig a cigarette butt a shiny thing

The sun came up before you tramped back in
Hollow and unyou scratched glass on your eyes

In disguise as some worse you
The globe all over so full of light and you a hole

Where my things go missing
Thief
